Gbolahan Ayoola is an artist and writer based in Lagos, Nigeria who garners continuous inspiration through the study of linguistic anthropology , human behavioral patterns, archeology and the exploration of spirituality.

“ I see Art as a language—a means of communication. When a culture loses the ability to communicate through its own visual language, there’s a disconnect that can hinder its ability to preserve its identity and effectively engage within its own social context. My work aims to bridge that gap by revitalising our traditional artistic expressions and reconnecting them with their cultural roots. “

Gbolahan’s works are created using acrylics, pastels, lead, bronze, charcoal, earth, wood, canvas , linen and paper.

He received his education in Fine Art from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. Following his education, Ayoola completed a residency with renowned Nigerian painter, Tola Wewe. His works have been included in solo and group shows spanning the length of 2 decades. These include exhibitions at home in Nigeria and in the global space.

He has received numerous awards and his writings have been published in international journals.
The artist's works can be found in major corporate and private collections across the globe.
